The Parent and Child Groups take place during term
time on Tuesday mornings between 10:00 am and 12:15 pm.
Parents
are asked to arrive on time for the session as it is disruptive
for both the children and the Group Leaders if families arrive late.
The Group Leader is Rachel Tapping. Please contact her via the
School Office or email: parent-child@alderbridge.org.uk
if you have any questions or concerns.
The Group
takes children from birth up to the age of 4 years old. Should parents
wish their child to be considered for entry into the Kindergarten,
they may have a conversation with the Group Leader to discuss the
child’s readiness and the entry procedure.
The size of
the Group is fairly small, to reflect its homely nature. The maximum
number of children is around 12, depending upon the mix of ages
within the Group.
The
Group takes place in the Woodbridge Room at the United Reformed
Church, Cromwell Place, in the centre of Newbury (map).
Pedestrian access is via an archway on Northbrook Street opposite
the Marks & Spencer store or through another archway on West Street.
There is no car parking available on site for families attending
the Group, but several public car parks are nearby. The closest
is Europarks in West St, which currently charges 50p per hour. Free
parking is available in Northcroft Park, about 7 minutes walk away.
Newbury
bus and railway stations are a short walk away, and there are bus
stops in Northbrook St. served by most local services.
The
Woodbridge Room is on the first floor, but there is an area to leave
pushchairs downstairs. There are toilets and baby changing facilities
downstairs.
The cost per family is £7.00 per session paid in
advance for each half term. A concessionary rate is available for
families unable to pay the full cost.
Please contact the School Office at Alder Bridge
School (telephone 0118 9714471) or email: parent-child@alderbridge.org.uk
if you have any queries.
If
you agree your name and address will be added to the newsletter
mailing list. A newsletter is generally produced once a fortnight
during term time and distributed by email (paper copies will be
available at the Group). It contains news of events, groups, and
any items of interest concerning the School, Kindergartens, and
Parent & Child groups.
There
is a well-stocked shop on the School premises, with toys, books,
cards, gifts, craft materials, etc. Please telephone the School
office for details of the opening times.
