We always welcome visitors, but please contact us in advance so we
can arrange for someone to show you around and talk to you. Tours of the
School for prospective parents take place on certain Fridays during term
time; please contact the School Office for dates and to book your place.

Alder Bridge School is conveniently
situated close to Reading, Newbury and Basingstoke, and is accessible
by train, bus, car, bike and boat.
Entry to the School site is
through Bridge House, which is the large pink house immediately in front
of you as you turn into Mill Lane. All visitors should please report to
the School Office which is the first room on the right after entering
Bridge House by the front door.

Aldermaston Station is about 5 minutes walk from Alder Bridge School,
served by First Great
Western services between Reading and Newbury. Mondays to Saturdays
during the day trains run approximately every hour, and every 2
hours on Sundays. There is an irregular service in the evening.
Some of these trains also run to/from London Paddington. There are
connections in Reading for fast services to/from London and direct
services to most parts of the country.

Reading Buses service
1 between Reading and Newbury runs every half hour during the daytime
Mondays and Saturdays and hourly on Sundays. There are no late evening
services. Alight at Aldermaston rail station.
Newbury and District service 104/105 between Calcot (SavaCentre)
and Newbury via Tadley (connections for Basingstoke) runs approximately
every 2 hours Mondays to Saturdays daytime. There are no services
evenings and Sundays.
There are frequent express coach services from London Victoria
and Heathrow Airport to Calcot Coachway, which is served by bus
services 1 & 104. There are also some direct services to/from
Western England, South Wales, the South Coast and the Midlands.

From Reading take the
A4 towards Newbury. At a roundabout take the A340 towards Basingstoke.
Immediately after crossing the canal lift bridge turn left up a
gravel lane (Mill Lane). The large pink coloured building in front
of you is Bridge House;
There is limited parking space in front of Bridge House. Further
car parking is available nearby at the Canal Visitor Centre (pay
and display). The Visitor Centre is up Wharfside, the turning on
the left just before the canal bridge when coming from the A4, look
out for sign.
Please note that the St Luke's car park further up Mill Lane
is no longer available for visitors to the School.
From Newbury take the
A4 towards Reading, and proceed as above.
From Basingstoke and
the South take the A340 through Tadley and Aldermaston village.
Turn right up Mill Lane immediately before the canal bridge.
If coming from London
or the West on the M4: leave the motorway at Junction 12, and take
the A4 towards Newbury, as above.

Mooring is available
in the canal basin adjacent to Aldermaston Lock on the Kennet and
Avon Canal.

School is only a few yards from National Cycle Route 4, which runs
along the canal towpath. |
